Hello, lovely, it's Donna here again this week, your business buddy. Thanks for tuning in for another episode. Or if you're new around here, and this is your first time that you've tuned in Well, welcome. I'm so glad that you discovered the shoes in business podcast, and you really enjoy today's episode. I've been a business owner for a long time now. And as a business coach, a course creator. And recently I decided to not just formalize my skills in the form of a coaching certification. But I also wanted to grow my skills to another level. And to do that, I went on a hunt to find something that was aligned to my goals. And my client needs that I knew I could pass on to you, right. So when I learned I passed that stuff on to you, and as a high performance coach, I knew that that was the thing that would help me to align to my goals. And to help me to make sure that what I'm doing in the work that I do is powerful, even more powerful for my clients. And so I dove into a program facilitated by the incredible. Brendon Burchard, the world's leading high performance coach, I joined his High Performance Coaching Academy, and was certified as a high performance coach. And I feel that that needs to be celebrated. It is a very big deal. And so I'm sharing that with you today. Because it is new, it's fairly fresh that I've been formally certified. And in the last episode, episode number 86, I talked about high performance and what that means. And I also said that I would create a podcast series on the different core elements of high performance, and how it relates to you as a business owner.
Donna Hann

That's just my crazy sense of humor. But if you would, if you've got a question about today's topic that's come up for you, as you're listening, hit me up. I'm here for you. And I'm here for that. So let's dive into clarity today.
Donna Hann
Clarity is a fundamental aspect of high performance because it helps us to channel our attention, our energy, and our efforts towards our goals. And what we know about high performers, is with clarity, we gain a clearer understanding of what we want, why we want it and how we can achieve it. And this empowers us to make better decisions to set more effective goals and to consistently take action towards our objectives. But on the other hand, a lack of clarity can significantly hinder our progress in several ways, right? So, for instance, the first one I want to dig into as to how lack of clarity can hinder you is feeling like you have no direction direction-lessness is a big word, isn't it direction-lessness. Without a clear vision for our destination, where we're going. We're prone to indecision. And we may drift aimlessly from task to task, and that leads to wasted time wasted energy and wasted resources. Another thing that can hinder our progress, because of lack of clarity is the motivation. And I'm sure that you've felt this before. I know I have in the past, when I've lacked a sense of purpose or meaning. You know, it's been challenging to stay motivated and invested in my work in the past.
Donna Hann
And you might feel at the moment maybe uninspired or uninterested or maybe disengaged from your goals. Maybe that's leading you towards procrastination. Maybe it's leading you towards burnout because you're just going around around in circles. And it's frustrating, you know. So this is why having clarity is so important because we can reverse all of those things. Distraction is another thing that happens when you have lack of clarity because without a clear sense of our priorities. We might get bogged down in the trivial things, the insignificant details, hindering our progress and creating a sense of being overwhelmed and I know a A lot of women that I work with, initially, they come to me because they're feeling completely overwhelmed. The other area here is low confidence when we're uncertain about our abilities, or the path that's ahead of us. It's hard to feel self assured and confident, right. And it might prevent us from taking risks and asserting ourselves or speaking up, and ultimately, limiting your potential and hindering you from reaching your goals. So clarity is that vital ingredient for high performance as it provides really the roadmap for your success. And by gaming, a clear understanding of our objectives and motives and, and strategies, we can then focus our attention, energy and resources are what truly, truly matters, and take that consistent action towards achieving goals. Right. So that's why clarity is so important. It is so important. It makes up the first module of the ready to rise program. It's the first coaching topic that we go into in the High Performance Coaching Program. Because it's essential, it's vital. In order for you to get the success and fulfill the potential that you know you have, you have to have clarity. But how do we gain clarity when you know you need it, but you don't know how to get it. That's a tricky place to be. So stay tuned, because that's what's coming up next.
Donna Hann

So clarity is a fundamental aspect of high performance because it helps us to channel our attention, energy and efforts towards our goals, right? We know that. And with clarity, we can gain a clearer understanding of what we want, why we want it and how we can achieve it. And this then, empowers us to make better decisions to set more effective goals and to consistently take those steps those action steps towards your objectives because you're clear about it. You know what you want and you know how to get there. If at the moment you're feeling like you don't know how to make that happen. How do I get the clarity that I need? I know I need the clarity, but how do I get that clarity? Then fortunately, there are some practical ways that you can use to achieve that and here are my tips. If you're seeking clarity, so that you can stay focused on your goals and achieve the success that you desire, and one of the powerful tools for seeking clarity that I have found to be really helpful is journaling. So writing down your thoughts, your feelings, your ideas, that can really help you to gain insight to your inner world, your inner knowing, and your inner desires. The other thing that journaling is really great for is identifying patterns or themes that might be holding you back. Because when you write it down, it's a little bit harder to ignore, right. And when you've written it down two, or three, maybe four or more times, it's really hard to ignore, and it actually can inspire you into action gives you the clarity.
Donna Hann
So if you're thinking that journaling is not your thing, because it's not everybody's thing, then maybe reframe it. And instead, think of it like mind mapping, doing a big brain dump, brain dumping your feelings, your ideas on a big piece of blank paper, just go for it. I do that often as well. So for me, it just helps me to kind of get everything out of my head down on paper. And when I see it on paper, I can then start to kind of connect the dots of the things that relate to one another are the things that are holding me back. And then the triggers the things that the things that are holding me back, you know, it can just bring a whole lot of clarity to that. So use your journal, use a mind map to set your goals, look at your progress, look at the things that are holding you back the things, the patterns that are coming up for you. And also, it's really great to do that in a way that you can reflect on your achievements, as well. Because part of being successful is retaining the motivation to keep going after what it is that you want. And when we reflect and we acknowledge and we celebrate our achievement, that helps our momentum to keep going forwards. So this process of journaling or mind mapping can help you to gain that sense of direction, to stay motivated. And it's also really great for building self awareness, which is really key really key.
Donna Hann
Also, another tip for you is to ask powerful questions. It's an effective technique for gaining clarity. And essentially, as a business coach and a high performance coach. The types of questions that I asked in those sessions are really powerful. And that's what helps you to get the clarity in the answers you're looking for. So when you ask yourself questions like, what do I really want? What's holding me back? If I wanted to 10x my business in the next 12 months, or 3x my business in the next 12 months, or whatever your goals and aspirations are? What would you what would a high performer do in order to make that happen? Or you can ask yourself a question like this one. Imagine yourself 12 months from now, what would your future self tell your present self to do? Or how do I want to feel? What do I need to do to get those feelings into my life on a consistent basis? Or what lifestyle do I want? What do I need to do to get that lifestyle? What income level do I want? Or what are the premium clients that I want to work with or I want to be known as the go to in my local area or on the online space or wherever you know your target market is? If you want to get to those things? What is it that you need to do to get there? And by asking yourself really powerful questions or working with a coach who can ask the powerful questions and is experienced in taking those answers and digging deeper and deeper and deeper, and sort of peeling back the layers so you can get to the core of your hidden beliefs or the obstacles that might be preventing you from reaching your goals.
Donna Hann
That's where that's where the gold is. And you can use this process to identify your values. You can use it to set priorities, and to create that clear vision for the future of your business and the future of the lifestyle that you know you want and that you know you have the potential to create. So seeking clarity is crucial. Again, I keep coming looping back to how important this is, you know, and there are several practical techniques that you can use to achieve it. Journaling, Mind Mapping, asking powerful questions. The key is to find the tools and the practices that work best for you. And then to make them part of your routine, right? So that you can continue to be focused on your goals and you can continue to overcome your obstacles, and that you can continue to achieve the success that you desire. Right? I hope this is all making sense. But I've got a few more for you as well. Right? So I've given you two, here's a few more. seek feedback from others. Sometimes it can be hard to see things clearly on your own. And seeking feedback from others from trusted friends from family members, maybe even from, you know, employees that you work closely with, will help you to gain perspective and identify any blind spots, right? You can also seek this feedback from your clients and your customers. You can ask for feedback on specific offerings, things that you know, the way that you do things, the onboarding process the, you know, you wouldn't call it the sales funnel to your clients and customers. But you could phrase questions around, what was that like for you? How can we do that better, right. Also, on a sort of a higher level and more business strategy and personal level, when you're talking to your trusted friends and family members, or, you know, team members. This process really helps you to understand how other people perceive you, and can give you insights into areas for improvement that maybe you've had the blinkers on and you can't see for yourself. This is also why having a business coach can be incredibly powerful.
Donna Hann
And that's why having a business coach will actually help you to fast track your progress towards clarity and gaining energy and having the momentum and productivity and, you know, really being a like making a difference and being a person of influence when you have a business coach because they are outside of your head. And they see things differently, right. And they can give you that perspective, which is invaluable. The next one is taking breaks. So we all know, and I am guilty of this, it's easy to get caught up in the day to day hustle and bustle of running your business. And being at I guess, you know, the service of our clients and customers. That's what we're in business to do is serve others. But taking regular breaks is essential for gaining clarity. Stepping away from your work, step away from the desk and go for a walk, you know, engage in something relaxing that you know, is really great for you. Everyone has different things that they find relaxing. So what is the thing for you, it helps you to recharge, it helps your brain and your mind to recharge so that you can have clarity. Taking a break allows you to return to your work with a fresh perspective, and renewed energy, which is so important.
Donna Hann
And the last tip I want to leave you with today is about defining your core values. Again, this is so important that it is also included in module one of the Ready to Rise Program. It's also something that we talk about inside of the High Performance Coaching framework.
Donna Hann
Clarity comes from knowing what's truly important to you your core values. So if you haven't already, or if it's been a while, since the last time you did take some time to define your core values, the beliefs and the principles that guide your life. You can ask yourself, again, powerful questions, like what matters most to me? Or what do I stand for? Or when I get really pissed off about something? Why? What is the value that that person or that situation, like what happened that crossed one of my value systems that made me so annoyed? That's a really good indication of one of your core values. Right? So sometimes it's easier to think about the things that get you worked up or a occasions or situations in the past where you've had that visceral body reaction where you kind of like feel the heat in your body or you suddenly get the shakes or there's fear that comes up for you or there's just something that really kind of shakes you. That is a really clear indication that there has been something or someone that has crossed the line on your value system.
Donna Hann
The other way to think of it if you've kind of got more awareness is what matters most to you What do I stand for those kinds of things. Doing this as a process will help you to prioritize your goals. It'll help you to make decisions more easily. And it'll also help you to align your actions with your core values, so that you can build a heart centered business and you can live a heart centered life. So yeah, you know, achieving clarity takes effort and intentionality you might be thinking, Archie, there's great tips there Don's. But like, that's a lot of work as well. Yeah, takes work, takes work to know with full confidence. How you want to be intentional in your life, and what are the things that you need to dig deeper into to discover clarity for you. It's about seeking feedback, taking breaks, defining your core values, journaling, Mind Mapping, asking those powerful questions, getting someone on your team, and team by team, I mean, having someone in your corner like a business coach, or a trusted friend, or an advisor, who can help you if you find this stuff really hard, and really tricky. But I've given you five ways today, there are so many other ways as well. So that you can start experimenting with the different techniques and find the ones that work best for you.
Donna Hann
I'd like you to think of the five that I've given you what's one that you can go away and do straight away after listening to this episode. Because by doing that, you can start the journey and the process to achieve the clarity that you need to reach your full potential. And that's why I love the work that I get to do. I love the work that I get to do as a certified high performance coach, because not only does it help you to gain clarity in your business, but you can apply this to your personal life too. It's really powerful. It's transformational. Like, it's hard to express how powerful this work is, when you apply yourself to doing it. It's incredible. And when you combine the clarity piece or the clarity part of the framework with the other elements that are essential to high performance habits, like generating energy and increasing productivity, demonstrating courage and making a positive difference, through positive influence, you can completely transform your life and your business and your relationships, not just with other people, but the relationship that you have with yourself. And the result is being successfully consistent over the long term without compromising relationships, or your own personal well being, which as you know, I'm all about right, I'm all about creating that healthy work life blend, and honoring your true passion and purpose as a mum that's made for more.
