I was so excited to record this episode because it's a milestone episode for me, I've been percolating on what I would share for the 100th episode of the chasing business podcast. And I really wanted it to be extra valuable and extra special and all of that kind of stuff. And if you've listened to the podcast that I released last week, I talked about how Nov can be a bit of a pressure cooker that we're so busy doing the doing, and, you know, racing towards the finish line for 2023. That time is just flying by right. Well, the same is true for me, too. And you might laugh at this because I definitely laughed at myself when I realized this. In wearing all of the hats of my business and ticking off my huge list. I'd lost track of the number of episodes that I was up to. And I was obviously, as I said, really pumped to record this episode. But what I've realized is that in fact, this is not the 100th episode, because actually, it's episode number 101. And last week, was the 100th episode. I've already done it. Oops. So here we are. I'm adapting. I'm adapting here to celebrate the 101 episode of the shoes in business podcast. And it's only added to the inspiration that I've had to dive into the podcasting journey that I've been on, and to share strategies for really getting started on something that maybe you've never done before. And how do you navigate that journey, including mistakes like celebrating the 100th episode on the 101 episode recording, and the power of all of those lessons combined.

Hello, lovelies, it's Dan's here, your business and mindset coach. And today we are celebrating a huge milestone in my business, which is this podcast. Albeit Yes, it's a week late. I'm a bit of a dork. But as they say better late than never, or as we say in business better to be done, then be perfect. And what I know for sure is that regardless of the timing, it is important to celebrate business milestones, we celebrate them a lot inside the soaring to success community all the time. In fact, every week, myself and the members there, we celebrate the wins that we have, and we celebrate each other. And that's what I'm here to do today. I'm also going to be sharing how I got the podcast started. And why you don't have to get it right, you just have to get it going. Because there is no perfect time, you will make mistakes. Perfection is not a reality. And I don't want you to hold back from doing something because of those reasons. So let's start at the beginning. The shame business podcast launched in July 2021. So two and a half years ago, which kind of blows my mind, I did actually go back through our podcasting platform and check the date of when we started. And two and a half years, it really does blow my mind because it doesn't really feel like that long. In that time, I've tried my best to release a podcast episode, every single week, which is a lot of work a lot, a lot of work goes into creating a podcast. And you know, I haven't been consistent in releasing a podcast every week, over those two and a half years, there have been a few points where I've taken a sabbatical, you know, a couple of school holidays where we went away and I didn't want to record on the road. Also, I took a couple of months off whilst we renovated our home. Because my office or my recording space was gutted, there was no quiet place for me to record. And let me tell you tradies, they love singing along to the Triple M radio station. And you combine that with power tools, and it kind of doesn't work too well for the ideal podcast recording environment. So, you know, I took a few months off there. But the number of podcasts that do get started in the world and then fizzle out after the first kind of half dozen or dozen or so episodes. That's actually really high. I was actually surprised to learn about how high the rate actually is of people starting and then not continuing their podcast. So I'm feeling pretty proud of that it has been a fairly consistent delivery of hopefully value packed information that I get to share with you in support for you, my listeners. And I just want to say that you know, this podcast, it really is for you, it isn't about me. The Accountability, I have to deliver that high quality content via this podcast is driven by my commitment to you in showing up for you to provide you with a no cost option for you to learn and adapt and grow your business. And my goal is that with this podcast, it grows to become the go to podcast for regional business, women with big hearts and big dreams. And my goal is to both through this podcast and through the soaring to success, membership is about making training and support accessible to empower entrepreneurs just like you to reach heightened levels of clarity and confidence and to fast track your business goals and live that fully charged life that you know you're capable of having. And I love it that you're here. I love that you join me and you join my guest experts when they come on the show as well. And we share the tools and the insights to elevate your business to boost your mindset. And to ensure that you never feel alone on this journey. No matter where you live. This podcast is designed for doers and action takers for you who are ready to extend your knowledge and business, to have the discipline to put it into practice. And like I said, regardless of where you live, what type of service you offer, running your own business doesn't have to feel lonely. You don't have to go to the Big Smoke either to get your dose of professional development because it can all start right here on this podcast. You know, but that's not that purpose. Specifically, if I say for regional business women, that's not how this podcast started. If you're a long term listener and shout out to you if you are, I really appreciate you being along for the journey with me. Just like me supporting you, you're also supporting me on my business journey by listening. This podcast was originally started for moms in business, to navigate a step establishing that business growth with a work life blend of business, family and self care. And it is still that it is still those things. But I've refined my vision for the services I offer. And I realized that niching down to support regional business women who also may be mums who are made for more is where I can really level up in the ways that I can support you. Which brings me to my first point of today's episode, that the business we start will not be the business you have in two years, nor will it be the same business that you'll have in five or 10 years, because we evolve. And that is absolutely normal. So if you're thinking of starting a business, or you're new to your business, or you've been realized that after being in business for a period of time that you need to reshape your business, so that you know maybe it no longer serves you in the way that it wants did or it doesn't light you up the same way anymore. Or you've realized that it's not aligned to the lifestyle that you want to create. I want you to know that that's okay. Don't let that be the thing that stops you from starting your business, or from reshaping your business direction, or refining who are your ideal clients, or what you offer as a service to your community, be it online, or a bricks and mortar business. Instead, think of your business as a strategic yet curious experiment and opportunity where you have the freedom to evolve and not be stuck doing something in a particular way. In every business through history, and I know that's a really big claim. But I will back this every business in history did not start the same way that it evolved to become. Because at the beginning, we don't know what we don't know. There's uncertainty in business and that's why it feels like an emotional roller coaster of emotions at times. There will be times when you are sailing along beautifully and things seem to be working really well. And then there will be times when it's not. Whether it's the beginning of business, or like some of my clients who are like 23 years in. We need to allow ourselves the permission to evolve to change things. up, because what got you here won't get you there. You need to level up your mindset, you need to level up your business skills and your business strategy. And you need to have a circle of influence the people around you will also change as you develop and grow your business. So it doesn't matter at what stage you find yourself at your if you're launching something new, or if it's pushing you beyond your comfort zone, the soaring to success community as an example, is, you know, where we have a full range of business owners at different stages of business doing different things inside of their business. But I want you to know that you don't have to get it right. You just have to get it going. You don't have to get it right. You just have to get it going. And that's how I started this podcast. I knew I liked listening to podcasts, they were something that was really convenient. For me, it was a way for me to learn. It was a way for me to have accessible information that I could pop into my ears when I was driving or, you know, puttering around the house. And I knew that other people liked podcasts, too. So I wanted to have a go at creating my own podcast. But I had no idea how I had no idea what to do to start my podcast. But with some help from a business mentor, I followed the steps and I learned as I went. I knew I wouldn't get it right every time. And I've made some pretty big stuff UPS along the way. So actually one of the biggest ones that I can think of,
Speaker 1 11:43
I'll share with you. So I batched some episodes, they were going to be released whilst my family and I were on holidays, we like to caravan. And I got this message from Yvonne and Yvonne is one of my beautiful clients. She comes along to our in person events, I think she's pretty much done everything that I have to offer. So she's done the ready to rise program. She's now in soaring to success, the membership. She listens to the podcast every week. And she's one of the biggest cheerleaders inside the soaring to success community for other members, which I just love. Anyway, I received a message from her. Whilst I was sitting in the passenger seat, we were driving somewhere along the Queensland coast. And, you know, I can't remember where we were, but doesn't matter. She messaged me and she's like, Hey, sweetie, that's just she always greets me that way, which is lovely. So she's like, Hey, sweetie, I was just listening to your latest episode. And there's a bit in it that maybe isn't supposed to be in there that maybe should have been edited out? I don't know. I don't know. But I just thought I'd let you know that you'd want to know. And I was like, Oh, shit. What did I say? What am I done? And as it turns out, I'd been recording an episode. I tripped over my words, as I do sometimes, as we all do sometimes. And I'd said something like a fucker keep stuffing up today. Right? Oh, all right, let's go take two. And I hadn't edited that part out, it was still in there. So she was right. It was like it should have been edited out. But what I loved is that she was looking out for me. And you know, we got it fixed up, we re uploaded it. And I'm sure a whole bunch of people heard that before we were able to get in there and fix it up. But I share this with you because we all make mistakes. It's part of the journey. And in that moment, I must it was a while ago, it was probably a good 12 months ago. In that moment, I did panic. I was like, oh shit, what are people thinking of me and it's unprofessional and all that kind of stuff. Now I've relaxed a lot more around that kind of thing. But, you know, other than a handful of people who perhaps listened to it before, Yvonne alerted me to it, because he was pretty onto it pretty quickly. But most people probably don't even remember that mistake, much less care about, you know that it even happened. So, you know, you'll notice that if you've got someone like everyone in your corner looking out for you, they will notice and they will let you know, but it's not the end of the world. It's most probably that you've got bigger fish to fry right. So my point here is don't stress the small stuff. Just do your best. Keep improving. keep learning keep growing as a person as a business owner, we never stop learning. We should always be learning from our mistakes. You know, the key here is to learn from the mistakes and not keep repeating them which I'm sure you wouldn't do anyway. But I used to stress more about those little mistakes and now I am more relaxed about those As kinds of things if I stumble on my words, I do. So what if I take a pause to collect my thoughts, I just leave that stuff in there. Because I'm a person, not a product. At the end of the day, I keep it real. And hopefully, that's a refreshing aspect in a world that is increasingly built on ideals and perfection. So, you know, even a few episodes back, I released a podcast that had a repeat of the introduction. And a friend was kind enough to notify me and I was grateful for that. But I left it in because it wasn't a massive deal, you'll probably go back and like try and find it now. But you know, the point here is like Done is better than perfect. And I could have spent time going back and fixing up that mistake and taking out the duplication of the introduction. Or I could have spent that time doing something instead that maybe added greater value to my clients, or move my business forward. And I did, I chose to do the latter, I let go of the old perfectionism in me. And instead, I invested my energy into something that felt more important. That doesn't mean I don't care. But I didn't let it roadblock the other things that I had on the go at that moment in time that needed my time and attention more. And just circling back to what I said in the beginning about accountability in publishing a weekly episode, which is a huge task that you as the listener is what motivates me to produce an episode every week. It is a muscle that I've built over time, it is a habit, you know, that I make sure that I'm, you know, seeing where we're up to, unless it's like the 100th episode, and you stuff that out which I have. But you know, holding myself accountable to you to make sure that I am publishing an episode every week. And if you're the type of business owner, that has that heightened awareness of your attributes and your habits, and you know, you thrive when you get that added level of support and accountability, and just going to take a moment to segue here to let you know that I have a new service that I'm launching, and you should probably go and check it out. It's my brand new 12 week coaching package that I've released just in time for Black Friday deals and Cyber Monday deals. Now, I want you to know, you don't have to go it alone in business to grow your business. In fact, the research from the High Performance Institute under which I've certified as a high performance coach, the most successful people attribute their success to be a direct result of the people they surround themselves with. So here's your invitation to allow me to be one of those people. This new 12 week coaching package is designed specifically to give you an elevated level of accountability with me as your business coach to ensure that not only are we meeting via zoom once a month, but I'm also going to be calling you over the phone midway through the month to check in with you and ensure that you are maintaining the momentum that you are keeping a level head as you ride the emotional waves of being a business owner and to guide you to remain focused on the action steps that we've mapped out together. So that you're getting maximum value from our coaching session by having that extra level of accountability and an extra touch point over the phone to me to help you to reach your big goals and grow your business. Plus, you're also going to get me on inbox support Monday to Friday. Now that can be literally your email inbox. Or it can also be like DM via messenger or Instagram whatever is your chosen preference. And so because this is such a high touch point package, there is a limited number of placements available for this mentorship, 12 week package. And it's only going to be offered for a limited time at this price point because prices are definitely going up for this. So if this is something that you know is right for you, and you're ready for it secure your placement before the Black Friday deal ends, you can go to Donna hand.com forward slash black, the color black for Black Friday, Donna hand.com forward slash black and normally this price will be much higher, the price is definitely going up. Now we'd love to work with you one on one but you do need to jump in and snag those limited places quickly. Now let's do a recap of all of the things that we have covered so far. I always like to do a bit of a recap. So the business that we start will not be the business you have in two years nor will it be the same business that you have in five or 10 years. It's an evolution. And it's normal for you to tweak things as you go. So embrace it. Give yourself permission to try new things, knowing that you can always change it if it doesn't go to plan. But don't let not knowing all of the pieces of how you want to create your business or design your business be the thing that stops you from starting, because it won't be the same thing that you started with. Anyway. Know what's working, and what's not. That's another big thing, know what's working and what's not in your business. Don't break what's not broken. Because sometimes what happens is, as business owners, we've got Sparky minds, we've got big ideas, we like to keep, you know, keep ourselves invigorated by changing things up and doing those kinds of things, which is great. You do, you need to make sure that you are, you know, remaining the go to in your industry. And that does require tweaking things and you know, staying at the top of your game, but don't break what's not broken, because you're bored. Because it feels like something needs to change. So we're just going to break the thing that's working and bringing me the majority of my revenue, and we're going to start something brand new. You see that happen all the time. Sometimes a boring business is a good business, right? Especially from a cash flow flow perspective.

You don't have to get it right, you just have to get it going. Make sure you've got that one locked into your mind. And data is better than perfect. Remembering that you're a person not a product. So you're not going to get it right all the time. But get it out there, put it out into the world, don't be the world's best kept secret, okay. And surrounding yourself with people who you can learn from who will support you and challenge you to be your best self, and to stretch beyond your comfort zone and step into your potential. Which can be me as your one on one business coach with that new 12 week package I told you about. Or you can join soaring to success. Those are some great ways that you can surround yourself with people who are going to be so impactful for you, in all the positive right reasons as you grow your business. And the links to those things will be in the show notes for you as well. And the last thing I want to leave you with today, I want to end on saying a massive thank you a huge thank you for being a listener. Maybe it's the first time you've tuned in, or maybe you've listened, listened to all of the episodes, including number 101, which we are celebrating here today. I appreciate that. All of all other podcasts you could listen to, you've chosen mine. And that really does mean a lot to me. So I'm going to take this to the next level. And I actually want to send you a gift in the mail. I'm going to go old school, I'm going to go snail mail. Now, you may not know this, but I have no idea who listens. There are no analytics that go to the level of detail that I can see who's listening. All I see is the total number of downloads each week. So if you would be kind enough to take the time to rate or review this podcast. That helps me to see who's watching. And take a screenshot of that, send it to me in a DM and I will personally post a gratitude gift to you. There I'm a I'm a practical gift giver. That's just me.
