As a certified high performance coach, I work with women all across the country to step into their potential and start or grow their regional business. And what I really like about the coach coaching methodology that I use is that it's really versatile. It works for business owners who are just starting out, and business owners who are years into their journey. Something that can affect everyone, no matter what stage of business no matter what size of business, no matter what level of experience is mastering your mindset, be that becoming more self aware of blokes that might be holding you back patterns of self sabotage, procrastination, or challenges around self confidence and unfair self judgment and inner self doubt. Whilst these things can keep us safe. These are also the things that prevent you from stepping into your potential to keep you small, to stop you from living your best life. And today on the podcast, I'm going to walk you through a coaching technique that you can use, keep it in your back pocket, in your bio, or in your mindset toolkit. And if you ever find yourself entangled in all of the things that I just described, this episode, could create a shift in you that could change your life. This is the she's in business podcast, where every week I'll explore topics and have real conversations around what it's like to run a regional business, the advantages and the unique challenges. I'm Donna Han, a seasoned regional business owner, and certified high performance business coach. I'm here to make training and professional development easily accessible for regional business women everywhere. And I'm here to educate you on what it truly takes to grow your business and your mindset beyond what you thought possible. So I felt inspired to share this coaching technique with you after a day of coaching a few weeks ago, where there seemed to be a bit of a pattern, a bit of a trend, where a few of my coaching clients were feeling similar things. And I took them through this technique that I'm about to share with you. And they felt that it was really, really helpful, not just to move them through the specific challenge that they were experiencing, but something that they could come back to time and time again, if and when they needed to. So I figured it might be really beneficial for you to. So today I'm going to share some prompts and questions that are very powerful. And if you don't have a pen and paper on hand, I've created a PDF download for you with all of the coaching prompts done on one page, so that you can again, keep it in your toolkit forever when you might need it. So if you go to donor hand.com, forward slash potential, we'll put it in the show notes as well. But if you go to that link, you'll be able to download the free copy of the coaching prompts that I'm going to describe to you today and walk you through. So I'm about to list a whole bunch of things that this coaching technique will help you with. So take a mental note of which one sound familiar for you. And maybe there might be a few. So have you ever felt like you wanted to do something new or something, you know, do something that you had a pretty good idea of how you could bring it to life. But then you started questioning your ability, you hesitated, maybe you became a bit paralyzed by your thoughts. Like, you know what, if I'm not good enough, I need to get x qualification before I could do that. If you maybe have experienced seeing someone else doing something really well, maybe something that is similar to what you do, or it's someone who's in your area or your industry. And you look at them and you go, Oh, you know, I had a similar idea or that's kind of like what I'm doing. But because they seem to be doing it really well. You start to self doubt, how could I do that? I'm not as experienced as them. I'm not as talented as them. I'm not as skinny. I'm not as fit. I'm not as pretty. I'm not as confident all of these not as phrases that sometimes roll through our head. Right? And sometimes that can lead us to start to go like who am I to be that? How can I pretend to be that right? If maybe there's been an opportunity that's been made available to you, that you're really excited about, and there's huge potential in the opportunity but it really Why have you to step beyond your comfort zone, to stretch your skills to learn new things, maybe to meet new people explore new places even. And the opportunity aligns with your vision and aligns with your goals, but you are met with equal amounts of fear, that then consumes your thoughts and emotions. It may even show up for you physically, right? Stress, anxiety, sleepless nights, you know, how will I pull this off? Can I do this, I can't do this, right? If you're having those kinds of thoughts and feelings, and maybe some of these examples might sound a bit dramatic or over the top for you, perhaps, for you, it's more subtle, maybe sometimes you don't even realize that these things are at play, and you just feel a bit off, maybe you feel a little lost, maybe you've become so good at almost like masking these things, that there's no big like hoo ha about it. But you've just developed a pattern of perhaps taking up less space in the world of playing small, that maybe it's just easier that way, like not to rock the boat not to risk disappointment in yourself, or maybe in your mind, like, you know, you don't want to be a disappointment to others, if you've got it wrong, or you know if it failed. And so sometimes it can feel much safer and easier to avoid opportunities to avoid putting yourself out there to avoid trying something new and challenging the status quo to, you know, avoid saying no, to compromise on your boundaries. And all of that can lead to feeling unworthy it can lead to sitting and sinking in the fear. So what if, on the other side of that fear on that, on the other side of that negative self belief on the other side of the worry, and the anguish and the the mean girl voice that sometimes comes up in our head and tends to rule our choices and our rule the way that we act? What if on the other side of that was the best decision of your life? What if letting go of the fear and the unrealistic expectations and the self doubt and the judgment and all of the things was actually the key to your success? That the great unlock that you know, you would love to have the thing that changed your world to create more vitality, more wealth, more fulfillment, and joy on the journey for your future self? What if that was a process that I could share with you a coaching process that you can have that you can use to self coach? When those things happen? Wouldn't you want that? So here's what I'm going to do. I want you to think of a thought that you find yourself having frequently or maybe from time to time, whichever, right? But it's something that feels Yuck, something that, you know, is like a horrible feeling. It's a horrible thought, the Mean Girls self talk, I'm not good enough. I'm not worthy. I'm too much of this, or I'm too little of that. And I just want you to pause for a moment. And spend a couple of seconds thinking about that. What is the thought? What is that mango voice that fills your head sometimes? What does that feel like? What is it that like? What is the phrase? What is the common phrase that maybe rolls through your head from time to time or maybe frequently, but it's kind of like it's been there a few times, it comes up over and over for you. I want you to really lean into what that is just spend a bit of time a couple of seconds few moments, really thinking that through what is it for you? When I come back from the break, I'm going to take you through the coaching questions and prompts to break you through that thought pattern.

Okay, so what we need, what you need to do is to be really honest with yourself and your answers to the questions that I'm about to ask you. So, say that your thought was that you're not worthy, or that you're not good enough. The first thing that I want you to ask yourself, Is Is that true? Is it true? That you're not good enough? Is it true, that you're not worthy?
Unknown 11:09
That's the first question. Is it true? And of course, most people will be like, No, that's not true.
Unknown 11:16
I just I know, it's a thought process. I know. I know that it's not real. I know that I'm up in my head. So no, it's not true. My second question is, is that 100% True? With ultimate clarity? Is it true? And when I asked that of my private coaching clients the other week, they both said to me, no, absolutely. It's not true. I know that. I know, logically, it's not. But it still keeps coming up, right, which is, you know, very common and true for all of us. And let me just say as well, the reason that I'm sharing this is because after, you know, putting through coaching a couple of my clients through this process, I know that you're not the only one. I know that I'm not the only one that also puts myself through this process, when these thoughts arise. Because we're always stretching beyond our comfort zone. As a business owner, we're always challenging ourselves to do things a little bit differently, we're evolving, we're Sparky, we've got ideas, you know, that is the mind of the entrepreneur. And whilst that is fun, and awesome, and you know, we love that that is why we run our own businesses. The other side of that is, if we don't work through this, at every new level, there's a new devil, you know, and if we don't have the tools in our toolkit, to be able to master our mindset, it really can hold us back. And I don't want that for you, right. So I want you to know, you're not alone in this journey. Everybody feels this stuff. Doesn't matter whether you are a new business owner, whether you've been in business for the past 1015 years, whether you are a you know, you're struggling to make a profit, or you're sitting on a business that is, you know, really healthy as far as profit margin goes. There's always going to be this that comes up, always. And so it's a constant work in progress, which is why this is such a valuable tool that I can share with you here. So the first few questions is a true, is it 100% True with ultimate clarity? Is it true? So we revisit that twice? The third question is, when you have those thoughts, of for example, I'm not good enough. How does that make you feel? When you have those thoughts? As an example of you know, I'm not good enough? How does that make you feel? Does it make you feel unmotivated? Does it kind of send you into a bit of a dark place where you kind of lose a bit of hope, if you will, a bit alone? You know, does it does that feeling that it evokes in you? Does it? Does it make you feel insignificant? Does it make you feel less than does it make you feel, I don't know like an imposter? How does it make you feel? And that's important if you can actually write these things down as you go. The fourth question is, when you have those thoughts, how do you act? So when you have those thoughts, how do you act? You might not try as hard. You might not fully apply yourself, you might come up with all of the excuses as to why you shouldn't do the thing. Right? You might go into your shell, you might become maybe more defensive. You might find yourself unable to articulate how you're thinking or feeling. You know if there's a difficult conversation that you need to have, but you feel like you're not good enough in your role. Well then may Maybe you find yourself that you can't articulate that there's a bit of a mental barrier around that. Maybe you might withdrawal. You know, there's so many things that, that it can bring up for people, when you really go through this, how does it make you act? And then the fifth question is, okay, so if that's how you're thinking and feeling, and if that's how you're acting, what is the outcome of those things? What is the outcome of those things. And it might be that you don't follow through with something that you know, is really important to you. It might be that if you're really blocked, and so because of that block, you don't actually step into your potential. It might be that it doesn't happen, that you have regrets. That the stress that you know, you might, the outcome might be that you feel intimidated, really emotional.
Unknown 16:01
And a lot of stress that comes with that right. Now, the next question is, how would it feel? If you didn't have those thoughts? If you couldn't have those thoughts anymore?
Unknown 16:14
If you'd worked through a process such as this one, and you fully believed, without hesitation, you knew that those thoughts were not true? How would it feel if you didn't have those thoughts? If they didn't exist anymore? How would that feel? Would you feel free? Would you feel calm? Would you feel like you'd be able to grow and blossom? Would you feel content insecure? And then how would you act? Number seven is how would you act if you didn't have those thoughts and feelings? If they didn't exist for you anymore? How would you act? Would you own your ideas? You know, would you? Would you be able to articulate with confidence? What it is that you were aiming to do to actually chase down those opportunities with intention?
Unknown 17:33
And then that eighth question is, what would the outcome be? Would you be confident? Would you not care about what other people think of you?
Unknown 17:45
nothing holding you back? You know, getting it done no regrets? Alignment, feeling like you're in flow? So then, once you've spent some time thinking about those first eight questions, number nine, is putting some words around what's the opposite of not enough? Because remember, my example that I use to start this with was that the thought that you were having was that you're not enough? So what's the opposite of not enough? How would you describe the opposite of not enough? And then, number 10, is listing out 12 things about yourself? That demonstrates that proves that shows that you are good enough? What are the 12 things that you can think of that would show that you are good enough that you do have the experience that you do have the skill set and the knowledge that you do know yourself, and you do know your own potential. So this is really, really powerful. And often once you kind of strip it back, and you start to list out those 12 things you might even create, find that you create a much longer list than 12. Sometimes it's hard to get started on those first 12 things. But you know, it can be it doesn't have to be big, big things, right? It can be small things over time, that you can look back through your history and your time on this world and be like, Well, I did that. And I did that. And I did that and I did that. And I did that. And I'd forgotten about that. And I did that too. Before you know it. You've got a list in front of you. That shows you that you can that you are good enough. You You can do this. And so my private coaching clients, they get a 60 minute call with me. And they get VIP inbox support, whether that actually be through email inbox, or whether it be via messenger or whatever it is that that they like to use. And with the 12 week Kickstarter package, you also get a 20 minute phone call, as an added level of support that sort of fits in between those monthly coaching sessions. So that every fortnight we're working together on your goals, and we're working through your blocks and getting you unstuck as part of your initial 12 week Kickstarter package, and it was during the phone accountability checking calls, that, you know, I discovered that my clients who were feeling that they were being held back, that they're feeling stuck and overwhelmed, you know, we were able to really unlock that and unblock that and challenge those thought patterns, that were no longer serving them, or their business, that also played into their lifestyle to in how they were showing up around the people that, you know, meant the most to them and their friends and family and you know, all of those kinds of things. So but the, the most important thing here, that I, that I know is why this works so well is that it's about the willingness to be vulnerable. It's about the willingness to be open and honest in answering those these questions. And as a result, they, you can then use the process to release those old patterns and create new ones New Thought patterns, right, that serve you better. I think the the logical masculine business practice is, you know, we're always looking at business strategies with goal setting, we're action planning, we're looking at KPIs, and, you know, we're doing our metrics and measurements each month to see what's working and what's not. And that's all very important and absolutely, absolutely so important, you should be doing those things. And that is part of the coaching, that I also deliver when I'm working with my clients. But we also need the strategies and processes for our mindset to, to strengthen our mindset to drive the momentum to bring that ambition into reality, because it's often our mindset and our thoughts that get in the way. And the inner work is just as important as the outer work as the strategy, right? As the skills building and learning. And when it comes to business ownership, you've got to do both, in my opinion. And also, in my experience of being a business owner. You know, this is my fourth business, my previous businesses I started, grew them and sold them. And through that experience, I know that this is powerful. And I often talk about in the regional business, women's membership, you know, I'm all we infuse this through the things that we do. And when it comes up in conversation, you know, I'm always there to support my members to work through their mindset blocks. But I also do offer private coaching. And I don't necessarily always talk about it on the podcast, I'm usually talking about the membership, but just leaning into private coaching for a moment, all of my clients, I now get them started on the 12 week Kickstarter package, I do limit the number of one on one clients that I work with, so that I can provide the highest level of support to those people. And I am opening up three spots for new clients for new private clients. So once these three spots are filled, that's it, you know, fully maxed out. So DM me, or email me if that's easier for you, if you would like to apply for one of the three spots that are now available. I hope today has been really helpful. You know, it's just a teeny example of one of the tools that I have shared with my clients that has really helped them. It's also really helped me to over the years and will continue to I know that for a fact. And I hope that it's really helped you as well as you've listened along today. And that you can go and download that free template or that free PDF, which is essentially the template for this coaching methodology. Go to Donna hande.com forward slash potential to go and grab that. And remember that our thoughts are just our thoughts. Our thoughts are not our truth. That just our thoughts. And so we want to be able to master our mindset so that you can do big things with your small business. And for me today, that's it. So I hope you have the best day. Go out there and win the day. Remove those blocks that are holding you back and go and shine. Thank you so much for tuning in to this episode of the shoes in business podcast.
